I'm Emma, a Registered Nurse, Independent Nurse Prescriber, and the founder of The Barn.

What started as The Laser Room has grown into something much more. Bringing together a wider range of treatments and skilled professionals, The Barn offers a combined approach to skin health, aesthetics, beauty and wellness.

From microneedling, professional skin peels and laser resurfacing to IPL skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal and injectable skin treatments, we combine advanced technology, medical-grade skincare and clinical expertise.

Great skin is rarely achieved with a one-off treatment.

Our monthly skin plans are designed to spread your professional treatments and skincare across the year, making it easier to stay consistent while working towards your individual skin goals.

Your plan can be tailored around your skin, concerns and budget, combining treatments such as peels, microneedling and IPL alongside professional homecare where appropriate.

Rather than choosing treatments at random, we have structured plans that progress with your skin and can be reviewed and adjusted as your needs change.

IPL Skin Treatments

Brown marks that seem to become more noticeable over time. Sun damage that leaves the skin looking uneven. Persistent facial redness or small visible thread veins. 

These are some of the concerns that can respond particularly well to IPL. Using the Lynton LUMINA, IPL can selectively target unwanted pigment and superficial blood vessels within the skin, helping to improve the appearance of sun-induced pigmentation, age spots, freckles, facial redness and thread veins. 

For those wanting to improve overall skin tone and brightness as well, the IllumiFacial combines professional skin preparation with IPL for a more complete skin rejuvenation treatment.

IPL Hair Reduction

Less shaving. Less waxing. Less unwanted hair. 

If you’re fed up with constantly shaving, waxing or managing unwanted dark hair, IPL can provide long-term hair reduction across a wide range of facial and body areas. 

Treatment works by targeting pigment within hairs during their active growth phase. Because not every hair is growing at the same time, a course of treatments is needed to achieve the best reduction. 

Treatments are available for women and men, from smaller areas such as the face and underarms through to legs, chest, back and larger body areas. 

Every treatment course starts with a consultation and patch test to make sure IPL is suitable for your skin and hair.

Fractional Laser

Sometimes the concern isn’t the colour of the skin — it’s the texture. 

ResurFACE fractional laser is designed to stimulate skin renewal and collagen production, making it particularly useful for concerns such as acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven texture and general skin quality. 

Rather than simply working on the surface, fractional laser creates controlled microscopic treatment areas within the skin, encouraging the natural repair process and gradual remodelling. 

Where there is a combination of pigmentation, redness and textural change, IPL and fractional laser can also be combined within an IllumiSmooth treatment programme.

Microneedling 

For scarring, pores, fine lines & overall skin quality, microneedling is a collagen-stimulating treatment designed to improve the quality, texture and appearance of the skin. 

Using controlled micro-channels, the treatment encourages the skin’s natural repair response and the production of new collagen and elastin. This can help improve acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines, uneven texture, early loss of firmness, dullness and some superficial scarring. 

Results develop gradually as the skin renews, with a course of treatments often recommended for more established concerns.

Professional Skin Analysis

Not sure what your skin actually needs? That’s completely fine.

You are not expected to know whether you need IPL, fractional laser, a peel, skincare or something else before you arrive. A consultation gives us time to look properly at your skin, talk about what you would like to improve and discuss the options that are genuinely appropriate for you. 

Professional photographic skin analysis can also be used to assess and record areas such as pigmentation, redness, pores, texture and overall skin condition, giving us a useful starting point for treatment planning and reviewing progress. 

Sometimes one treatment is enough. Sometimes a combination works better. The treatment plan starts with your skin — not a treatment menu.

Not every skin concern needs IPL or laser.

The Barn also offers a range of advanced treatments that can be used individually or alongside other treatments, depending on what your skin needs.

Professional chemical peels can help improve dullness, congestion, blemishes, pigmentation and uneven texture, while dermaplaning provides controlled exfoliation and removes fine vellus hair, leaving the skin smoother and brighter.

Skin boosters are also available where the focus is improving hydration and overall skin quality rather than changing facial features.
